OK – this scheme has been in my head for years!! (honestly, I can't believe I've waited this long!)

It is time, to retire this treasure (the 20 gallon frag/QT tank) for something a little classier, and not consisting of random spare parts

So…. guess what the UPS guy brought me !!

(the kitty will take the place of the UPS guy in this example since I wasn't home to sign for it :-* )

Aaron threatened to throw it on the floor!! :-[ :-[ Although with all that bubble wrap it prolly woulda bounced hehe

And, tada!!! Mr. Aqua 25 gallon cube!! It looks soo big and purdy :-*

Got my lighting all picked out too, 2 PAR38 bulbs hung from the ceiling on cheap IKEA pendants 8)
Now, time to design/build a stand

That is a sweet tank, i had the low iron version of that tank on order for over a month on Marinedepot but it seemed like it was going to be on back order forever so i got the 12 gallon long. I'm jealous i really like these 25 gallon cubes lol. It should be awesome

bastards … lol, those low irons have only been out for a while, no wonder they are sold out..

although, you might be happy without it, ive heard some people say the starfire glass is super easy to scratch :-X

How about some pre-cut wood pieces

Got it mostly assembled (just used standard wood screws, I hate nails and glue )

I decided I wanted something "a little fancier" – so I put some girly legs on it – got the glue setting here with some salt to weight it down

And, tada!!! the tank even fits …..

Now how the heck am I gonna skin this thing???

Did you countersink your screw holes? I used this cool pocket hole jig i bought from lowes for $20 for the vertical legs. I bought some 1/4 ply from home depot for something like $11.25 per 4'x8' sheet to skin mine.

I only countersunk the ones on the front and sides – said screw it on the back, since I'm going to leave the back open

its amazing how cheap that 1/4" ply is!! thats my backup plan – or paneling, for some reason paneling just sounds cute

Today im gonna go down to brown building supply and see what kinda treasures I can dig up – I'd love to get a formal cabinet door for the front, but we will see
